Alex has personal experience of mental illness. He started his career in 1993 first working on Barclay’s high flier scheme in London and the USA straight from University and then at Aegon Asset Management in Edinburgh managing investments in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. From there he moved back down South working for HW Corporate Finance transacting deals in the £1-100m range. Alex worked on due diligence, disposals, capital raisings and management buy-out and buy-ins. In 2016 during some research, Alex uncovered that mental illness affected young people 10x more than cancer but that cancer as a whole was funded 10x more than mental health.
